Course Description

The biotechnology course aims to familiarise students with concepts and scientific approaches such as molecular biology, transformation of genetic material and genetic recombination. Students will learn the methodology and acquire the theoretical background for the genetic transformation of plants using Agrobacterium. In addition, well-known examples of biotechnological applications in plant production will be analysed. Laboratory exercises include experiments on subcloning of DNA fragments on plasmid vectors and both stable and transient transformation of Arabidopsis plants.
