Course Description

The aim of the course is to enable students to learn about the following evergreen fruit trees: Olive, Citrus (orange, tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, grapefruit, nerang, bergamot, bergamot, grapefruit, kumquat), Avocado, Muscovy, and be able to organize commercial plantations with the above fruit tree species. The course material includes the origin-nutritional value-historical background of the above trees, the geographical spread of cultivation in Greece and worldwide, the botanical and morphological characteristics, the buds and how they develop, the main fruiting organs, any particular problems of each species and peculiarities of germination and fruiting, pollination needs, soil and climatic requirements, irrigation, methods of propagation, rootstocks used, crown shapes, pruning, thinning of fruit, varieties and their characteristics, and ripening and harvesting of fruit.
