The aim of the course is to provide students with knowledge about the functions of the plant cell and the plant organism, as well as the influence of internal and external factors on these functions. Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to,

• understand the basic physiological functions of the plant
• interpret the behaviour of the plant in the field and in the greenhouse
• predict the response of the plant to various abiotic stresses
• take corrective action to improve crop performance
