The purpose of the course is to provide students with an understanding of the basic laws and principles governing an economy as well as an understanding of the scarcity of the means of production and the basic economic problem. Also the basic objective of each economic unit (individual, firm, institution, state) and the maximization of benefit. All of the above are specific to the particular characteristics (physical, structural, economic) of the agricultural sector.
