Course Description

The course "Irrigation - Drainage" is a natural development of the independent subject of Agricultural Hydraulics, which belongs to the Agricultural Science. However, it is a stand-alone course. The aim of the course is that by successfully completing the course, students will be able to contribute to the design and construction of an irrigation and drainage network. The knowledge acquired by successful candidates is level 6 and constitutes advanced knowledge in the field, which implies a critical understanding of the subject of agricultural hydraulics. Specific objectives are for those who have successfully completed the course to: a) Evaluate the quality of water to be used for irrigation b) Select the appropriate method of irrigation c) Size pressurised irrigation networks (sprinkler, micro-irrigation and drip) and d) Select the appropriate method of drainage.
