The Profile of the Graduate of the Department of Agriculture
 

The Programme of Studies of the Department of Agriculture is of 5 years duration and leads to the award of a Bachelor of Agriculture degree.
Upon completion of their studies, and registration with the Chamber of Agriculture, graduates of the Department of Agriculture are eligible for employment:

  • as consultants in the production process of safe and quality products,
  • as designers of farm improvement plans and farm actions,
  • as contractors for public works (greenery, hydraulic works, etc.)
  • as executives in companies marketing agricultural supplies, agricultural machinery and equipment,
  • as owners or managers of shops selling agricultural supplies (plant protection products, fertilisers, fertilisers, propagating material, etc.),
  • as owners or managers of companies producing propagating material (nurseries for horticultural and ornamental plants and seed companies),
  • as managers in agricultural cooperatives (farm management - production organisation),
  • as managers in agricultural marketing companies (packing plants, standardisation plants, agricultural industries),
  • as managers in companies in the agricultural supply chain (agricultural warehouses, logistics companies),
  • as consultants to producer groups,
  • companies carrying out experiments to evaluate plant protection products and propagating material (GEP - Good Efficacy Practices),
  • agricultural product certification bodies (Integrated Management, Organic Agriculture) and
  • in research institutions.

They can also work public bodies:

Public Services (Ministry of Rural Development and Food, the Single Food Control Agency, the Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organisation, the Payment and Control Agency for Community Aid for Guidance and Guarantee),

  • Research centres (National Agricultural Research Foundation, Benakio Plant Pathology Institute, etc.),
  • Public utilities,
  • Local Authorities (Municipalities, Regions, Development Companies, etc.),
  • Local Improvement Agencies
  • Banking Institutions,
  • Education (Secondary Schools, Public and Private I.E.C. and Vocational Training Centres)
